Morning Glory

Flowers lend themselves particularly well to being depicted by hard stone mosaics. The commission here was to depict a Convolvulous (also known as ‘Morning glory’) in stone. Black Belgian marble makes a dramatic backdrop to the striking blue lapis and the green verde d’Arno.

The use of different shades of lapis lazuli were carefully selected here to give the Convolvulus perspective and to bring a life-like quality to the petals. Finding the perfect texture for each different piece requires incredible patience.
