Pheasant Box

29.7 x 13.5 cm

This large jewellery box, a bespoke wedding gift, was engraved with the bride and groom’s names in the black Belgian marble. Their love of shooting provided ideal subject matter. The pheasant being startled by the fox brings a nice sense of humour to what was a special gift that will last many generations.

White chalcedony and ocean jasper, both extremely hard stones, were an ideal choice to depict this snowy landscape. A delicate piece of mother of pearl was cut and inlaid for the star. Speckled dentrite stone was used for the hen pheasant’s body. Precious tiger’s eye was used in the tail of the cock pheasant to bring out the colours along with iron stone for the body.
